Create and Live a Life You Love

Yoga Transformed My Life

Megan Sevart-Culbertson, Owner

I began practicing yoga to stay in shape and get a break from my kids. My yoga journey took me by surprise as it became so much more than a physical practice. Yoga became a body, mind, and spiritual practice for me. Yoga helps me live with more intention, balance, and purpose. Yoga is love. It taught me to love myself, and when I learned to love myself first I was able to love and serve others better.

Yoga is my superpower. I take the balance, strength, empowerment, peace, love, presence, patience, grace, forgiveness, and energy I cultivate and create on my yoga mat off my mat and into my life.

I wanted to share the gifts of yoga with other women and that’s what led me to pursue my 200 hrs RYT (registered yoga teacher) training in 2015.

Teaching yoga sets my soul on FIRE! I have been serving women in my community teaching yoga classes at local studios, hosting retreats, workshops, pop-up classes, trainings, and in 2020 launched Megan’s Yoga Tribe Online Yoga, Barre, Pilates studio, and opened our studio in downtown Lee’s Summit in May 2022, our second studio in Lakewood September 2023 and our Yoga Teacher Training school in September 2023.

My goal is to help you transform your body and mind each time we practice yoga together; in person or virtual. I will offer easy to follow cues, modifications and the motivation through my language and flows to challenge you while still honoring your body and mind.

When you practice yoga with me you will feel loved, noticed, and important! Thank you for allowing me to serve you!

Much LOVE & Gratitude,

Megan Sevart-Culbertson

Marjorie Fisher

My first experience with Buti Yoga was in Kirksville, MO at my favorite little yoga studio in 2015. The music was loud, we laughed, we sweated, and I fell in love! Since then I became integrated into the Buti Yoga network in Kansas City where I became certified to teach Buti Yoga in 2017. I have taught ever since, and I feel that I always meet the most wonderful women (and men) through Buti.

It is my goal in each Buti Yoga class to challenge you, to encourage you, and to get to know you.

Carly Duquette

I started practicing yoga 18 years ago as a calming lunch break from my corporate job, in those early days it was impossible to close my eyes and calm my mind during savasana. Today my practice is fundamental to managing stress; my mat is my calm in the storm – a place where I am fully present. It is where I have learned to trust and honor my body and connect with my soul.

My 200 hour yoga certification is from Zen Zone Yoga.  I am currently enrolled in Flow School with the goal of bringing creative movement beyond traditional sun salutations in circular patterns that will calm and challenge.

Outside of yoga I work as an IT Director, have one adult son, love to read, enjoy road trips on the back of my partners motorcycle and strive to find more time for naps and paddle boarding.  I am passionate about raising awareness and removing the stigma related to substance use disorder.

In my personal yoga practice, I find opportunity for growth in every class I take, and I love learning from different instructors. Yoga has taught me to use breath to calm the mind to overcome challenges both on and off the mat.

I believe yoga to be an incredible tool for both mental and physical wellbeing. As a teacher, I will meet you where you are and guide you through movement and breath. Away from the mat, I enjoy the outdoors, reading, cooking, and spending time with my family.

Rebecca Kopechek-Sampson

Fitness has always been my outlet and friend. I cannot imagine my life without it. Pilates came to me in college. My roommate taught it and got me hooked. When I moved to KC in 2005 I could not find it anywhere. I was encouraged to get certified and teach it! One of the best decisions I have ever made. I have built many amazing friendships from my Pilates, and Yoga practice community, and I continue to want to keep learning.

After 13 years of teaching Middle School, and currently having a middle schooler at the time, I realized I was burnt out and miserable. I wanted a change and I wanted to follow my passion. I was encouraged by another great friend to get trained in Pilates equipment (Reformer/Cadillac/Chair/Barrels). I took the biggest risk of my life and quit my day job. Another one of my best decisions. I married my amazing husband, and we added two babies to our family. I have 1 going to college next year, and 2 in diapers. I LOVE what I do and I want you to feel that.

Tricia Tayrien

I believe yoga is for everyone. I want to inspire people to become the person they were created to be physically, mentally and spiritually. I’m a E-RYT with well over 15,000 hours on the mat as an instructor. My classes are warm, challenging and soulful . Inspired by all kinds of music, I use gentle alignments to help yogis discover more about their own body. I share thought provoking insights to challenge yogis to live yoga “off the mat” and bring the 8 limbs of yoga to the practice.

When I’m not teaching yoga or co-leading Zen Zone Yoga Teacher Training, I’m a certified health and life coach for a Functional medicine practice in Kansas City, MO. I’m married to my college sweetheart, have 3 children, 5 grandchildren and a dog. You’ll find me doing yoga on the water at Lake Jacomo on my SUP or our sailboat; I also enjoy cooking, cycling, hiking, knitting, reading, running and getting creative anyway I can. I hope to see you on the mat soon!

Jacqueline Eaton

Jacqueline is a caring, intuitive, and compassionate teacher who creates an inviting and warm environment for all. Her personal yoga journey began in 2014 with a weekly class in a community center which quickly grew into a commitment to finding ways to live a more peaceful, joy-lead, and grateful life. Along this journey, Jacqueline found that yoga was the missing link needed to initiate her healing and connection with her truth.

With a deep desire to connect, heal, and teach others, Jacqueline initiated and completed her RYT-200 in 2017, which later lead her to complete her Pilates Mat certification, Barre certification, and pursue her comprehensive 600-hour Pilates certification. To Jacqueline yoga is universal. It can be a great way to start or enhance a physical exercise regiment but it can also offer a deeper dive into the self through the connection of mind, body, and breath.

Jacqueline uses the versatility of yoga to structure her classes by using the physical practice to build strength and grounding while providing students with the opportunity to find a deeper connection through breathwork and thought-provoking meditations. Her hope is that you leave her class feeling refreshed, nourished, and strong in mind, body, and spirit. Off the mat, Jacqueline enjoys spending time with her two corgis, family, and friends as well as cross-stitching, belly dancing, and taking every opportunity to learn and grow.

Gwen Hull

B.S.Ed. University of Missouri, M.S. Exercise Physiology & Biomechanics-University of Kansas, 500 E-RYT Yoga Alliance

Gwen Hull loves to share the Ashtanga Practice as a technique for wellness and self-knowledge, ultimately leading to union with God. The awareness of the practice is to the ujjayi breath, bandhas (energetic locks), and drishti (focus) linking breath to movement (one asana to the next) in a beautiful garland of flowers becoming a moving meditation/prayer. Gwen believes her role as teacher is to create a safe environment where she can encourage, inspire, and help each student establish the practice in their daily life regardless of age, ability, or circumstance. She believes Ashtanga yoga is a lifelong practice as she has had five clients practicing into their nineties with improved quality of life.

Gwen completed a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from the University of Missouri-1991. After teaching for a few years at Winnetonka High School, she completed her Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and Biomechanics from the University of Kansas-1998. She has taught group fitness since 1986, personal training sessions since 1991, and yoga since 1996. Sri K. Pattabhi Jois shared the Ashtanga lineage with several teachers to share Ashtanga yoga with the west (David Williams, David Swenson, Tim Miller, Ganga White, and more). Gwen has practiced extensively with many of the senior teachers.  She is very grateful for her first teacher, Genevieve Crosslin, a student of Ganga White. She brought the Ashtanga practice to life with discipline, fire, and love as she allowed Gwen to practice under her guidance for three years.  Ram(Mic) and Stephanie Goodman of Yoga-Vedanta Shala allowed her to be a participant and teach the Anatomy/pre-natal portions of their Yoga Alliance teacher training programs in 2004-5. Gwen has practiced and taught yoga for 25 years and is currently registered with Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT- 500 teacher.

Gwen has been married to Alan Hull since 8/17/1991, and has been blessed with four children; Tanner 26, Amanda 24, Natalie 20, and William 18. Raising and nurturing her family has been her greatest accomplishment and joy. She also loves running with her four dogs, tennis, weight training, cooking, gardening and reading. As a devout practicing Catholic, she begins her day praying the Rosary which moves into her daily yoga practice. Then, she tries to go out and make the world a better place with a smile, a kind word, or sharing her practice… Just Be and Just Be Love! “ Abide in me, and I in you…Abide in Love”  John 15

Bri

As an enthusiastic yoga practitioner, I love spreading the joy and benefits of yoga to all individuals. My love for yoga began over ten years ago and continues to blossom every day. Yoga brought new energy to my soul and once I noticed the profound impact yoga had on my overall health, I knew I wanted to help provide the same for others. Inspired by the yoga community, it led me to dive deeper and in 2019 I completed my 200 hours registered yoga teacher training. In 2023, my husband and I decided to pack up our bags, jump in our campervan and travel around the United States and Canada to visit small local farms and National Parks. Whether it’s conquering rocky crags, biking along scenic trails, or hiking through pristine wilderness, I find bliss in the union of breath and movement amidst the incredible beauty of nature. Rooted in the belief of creating a holistic life for my family and the community, I am working on cultivating a homestead where the rhythms of nature harmonize with mindful living. The journey involves regenerative agriculture, growing organic produce, and creating a sanctuary that reflects the principles of simplicity, self-sufficiency, and eco-consciousness. I believe that yoga is a powerful tool for self-discovery and healing that encompasses the mind, body, and spirit. My classes are designed to create a nurturing space that fosters ah-ha moments and breakthroughs by utilizing breathing techniques and moving meditation. Come join me on the mat as we embark on a journey to explore limitless possibilities that yoga has to offer. Let’s flow, breathe, and grow together!

Beth Ann Schwope

She has appreciated yoga and the practice for years from a distance, providing mindfulness and movement for her kids when they were young, and briefly incorporating moments of breath/body connection into her day. She just started practicing regularly in 2023 and fell in love with how it so ideally helped regulate her nervous system. Showing up on her mat, even distracted, overstimulated, and far from perfect, is always the best thing she does for herself. Six months after a trip to Tulum with Megan’s Yoga Tribe, she began Yoga Teacher Training with Ruthann Zentner 500 E-RYT and Tricia Tayrein 200 E-RYT. This started unearthing the layers of what it looks like to deepen her practice, and laid the foundation for teaching yoga.
Beth loves a poignant and clever analogy, a brisk walk, live music, and creating anything and everything from chicken coops to couture dance costumes. Equally comfortable in excessive rhinestones and durable coveralls, she is always discovering something new about herself and this beautiful planet. She has a heart for music and the arts, neurodivergent learning, and understanding & compassion when it comes to mental health and suicide awareness. Beth is passionately and unwaveringly dedicated to her 3 children.  Know that you can attend her classes precisely as you are. She hopes to facilitate confidence and love of self and others with her thoughtfully crafted classes. She loves a good theme and has been frequently known to go a little overboard with it. Her ultimate goal as a teacher is for you to leave class feeling lighter, stronger, and glad that you came.

Lauren is a true lover of learning, people, and all things teens. As a high school social studies teacher, she’s living her dream job! On those days when life gets a bit challenging, her sanctuary is found within her yoga and meditation practice, offering her the much-needed balance and peace. 📚🧘‍♀️ Recently, Lauren achieved her 200-hour yoga teacher certification through Breathe for Change, an organization that empowers educators with social-emotional learning strategies and mindfulness techniques. Unexpectedly, her love for teaching yoga blossomed, and now she’s thrilled to embark on a journey of sharing wellness with others!

Lauren’s journey with Megan’s Yoga Tribe began a couple of years ago on a lawn outside a local coffee shop. Reflecting on her experience, she shared, “I’m amazed by the continuous flow of creative goodness from MYT, and I feel truly honored to be part of it.”  A proud Kansas City native, Lauren finds joy in music, exploring local coffee shops, hiking, and adventuring with her beloved family: her husband, Joe (also a social studies teacher), and their cheerful kiddos, Delaney and Caleb (ages 5 and 2).

Jacob’s journey into yoga practice began in 2020 when he was searching for a way to alleviate lower back pain, sciatica, and general inflexibility in his body. After some period of regular practice, Jacob began to notice more than just changes in his body, but in his mind and heart as well.  Yoga has become an essential part of his life!

Through Jacob’s healing journey, he has developed a desire to share what he’s learned (and will continue to learn!) along the way. He recently moved into the area from Oklahoma and has felt nothing but loving and welcoming energy from Megan’s Yoga Tribe and is proud to begin his teaching journey with this community.
His classes will be focused around cultivating a restorative and calming space to explore and heal ourselves. He also enjoys playing singing bowls and drums and will include them in his classes from time to time

Glenda Masters

Meet Glenda she has spent the past several years sporadically exploring different styles of yoga including Hatha, Bikram, Ashtanga and Vinyasa. But it wasn’t until 2022 when she committed to making yoga a consistent focus of her wellness journey. She became a certified 200-hr yoga instructor in 2023 to deepen her own practice as well as to support others in their practice.

Outside of yoga, Glenda is a classically trained violinist and arts administrator who has dedicated her career to connecting communities through the arts. She understands the healing power of arts and will often integrate sound healing into her yoga practice.  As a yoga teacher, Glenda loves to inspire and guide others. Her goal is to create classes that are welcoming, compassionate, balancing and mindful. Drawing from her music training, her classes emphasize proper alignment and fundamentals. I am a husband (best known as Megan’s husband), father of 4, insurance salesman, coach; typical Midwest suburban male on the surface…but there is so much more depth to me. Meet Andrea Cox she’s had a love of fitness her entire life and over a decade ago discovered yoga was a perfect companion for her frequent runs. Yoga quickly became a passion for her! It was the missing piece to her mental health journey and has helped her find her voice, on and off the mat. Andrea is excited to share her passion, and honored to be teaching at Megan’s Yoga Tribe. This welcoming, no-judgment community has been her home away from home. She hopes to provide the same experience as a teacher; give you a moment to take a break from everyday life, receive an intention, connect with a deeper part of yourself and leave feeling centered and at peace. Lisa Cherepak

I am excited & honored to join Megan’s Yoga Tribe but even more excited to teach in my community of Blue Springs. My husband and I live in Lake Tapawingo and our 2 children graduated from Blue Springs High School. I’ve been teaching pilates for almost 20 years & believe it is the best cross training you can do for your body whether you are a professional, student, homemaker, pickleball player, golfer or any kind of athlete. Professional athletes incorporate pilates into their regime. Yes even the Chiefs just look it up. Personally, I suffered low back pain in the past and it was pilates that strengthened my core helped get me back to a 100 percent! Some of my clients shared how pilates has impacted them: “I started Pilates because I wanted to improve my flexibility. I had no idea how it would completely transform my body – increasing strength and flexibility. I even got my college-aged daughter to join me for Pilates classes this summer, and now she’s hooked, too. It is such a nice complement to other exercise, but certainly the exercise I look forward to the most.” Tara Lipani Lin, MD “The one thing I think everyone should know about Lisa is that she knows her stuff. She is excited to use her expansive knowledge base which means each workout is unique.” Marcia Machens “Lisa makes Pilates fun and accessible. Her personal attention to our group ensures that we are in good form and maximizing the benefits of every exercise.” Cady Seabaugh My passion and knowledge for pilates grows each day and my real compensation is when I help and improve my clients’ bodies so they feel better, maybe grow and can remain injury free so they are stronger to enjoy their passions! Thank you Megan for giving me the opportunity to teach here. I hope to help more of you on your journey to a healthier, stronger body! Meet Diana Wise she began practicing yoga over a decade ago to supplement different workout and fitness routines. After struggling with chronic joint and back pain for as long as she could remember, she realized that yoga was the best exercise for her body, and began practicing regularly in 2022. Over the next year the amazing effects of yoga were becoming apparent in all aspects of her life, and during a transformational yoga retreat with MYT in early 2023, Diana knew she needed to better understand what was happening within herself. She needed to find a way to share the beauty and magic of yoga with others. Outside of the yoga studio, Diana is married to her (incredibly supportive) high school sweetheart Brian. She loves reading, binging tv shows or movies, game nights, music (especially live), travel, anything artsy, and is often busy hosting or planning an event or attending her teenage children’s dance and soccer activities. Happiest in the sunshine on a beach, she will never turn down a chance to put her feet in the ocean. Diana is passionately and professionally involved with international exchange, and through hosting, they’ve been able to add many more children to their own family, each of them holding a special place in their hearts. In her class you will find a welcoming environment for everyone, with fun playlists (song or style requests are always welcome), and the opportunity to step away from your daily life to do something good for yourself. Her goal is for everyone in her class to leave feeling better than when they came in.
